Prescription requests
If you are on regular medication you do not always need to see the doctor for a repeat of medications
You can order your repeat prescriptions by the following:
- Email: contactstlaurences@knowsley.nhs.uk
- In person by completing the tear off slip on the right-hand side of the prescription by ticking the medication you require and place in the box in reception
- You can also arrange for your repeat prescription online by registering on patient access. Please ask a receptionist to provide you with a password to enable online registration.
Telephone requests will not be accepted except for housebound patients
Please allow 48 hours for prescription requests
Local pharmacies operate a collection and delivery service for prescriptions. To access this service please contact your chosen pharmacy to discuss further.
Fit note
You do not require a doctor's sickness certificate for any illness lasting seven days or less. Your employer may however require you to complete a self-certification form (SC2) which is available from your employer or on the HMRC website.
If you are sick for more than seven days, your employer can ask you to give them some form of medical evidence to support payment of SSP (statutory sick pay).
It is up to your employer to decide whether you are incapable of work. A medical certificate called a 'Statement of Fitness for Work’ from your doctor is strong evidence that you are sick and would normally be accepted, unless there is evidence to prove otherwise.
You could also provide evidence from someone who is not a medical practitioner, e.g. a dentist. Your employer will decide whether or not this evidence is acceptable. If your employer has any doubts, they may still ask for a medical certificate from your GP.
Test results
You can telephone for test results from the reception team after 2pm. We ask if you could not telephone at other times when the reception staff are particularly busy. Results can only be given to the patient for whom the test was taken to ensure there is no breach of confidentiality guidelines.
A receptionist will inform you of the outcome once a doctor has reviewed the results if they have received the results whether the doctor has marked the result as 'normal', 'no action required', 'needs to see doctor - urgent or non-urgent', 'repeat/further tests needed' or if some other actions is required. If you need another blood test you can collect a form from the reception when it is needed. Please note that X-ray results take a little longer, usually 10 working days.
